About the Artist

Natalia Mirabito Hoar (b. 1996) is a classically trained oil painter capturing the raw pastoral beauty of New England land and sea. Originally from Moldova and residing in Scituate, MA, her artistic career began at an early age as a pen and ink artist and violinist, and studied painting along the way. Her work is focused on sweeping coastlines, moody light phenomena, and recurring vistas across New England and Cape Cod shorelines, marshes, waterways, and abroad.

Her process begins by painting en plein air, lost in thought out of doors or enhancing a study to a larger studio work. She seeks out specific lighting affects, heavily inspired by 19th and 20th century old masters and schools of luminism and impressionism. Her goal is to create striking color relationships that create immersion and subtle drama, in carefully composed scenes. She is incessantly drawn to mark-making with found objects and the smooth drama of cloud and atmospheric effects that capture the fleeting light that nature bestows all four seasons, traditional to the region. She reminisces about what once existed before her, and before her viewpoint's splendor was altered by human touch or development.

She holds a B.A. from the University of Massachusetts, Natalia has studied under the Museum of Fine Arts, Joseph McGurl, Lloyd Lillie, Hillary Scott and Judy Rossman. She is a member of the Oil Painters of America. Her work has taken her to Italy, Hawaii, Abu Dhabi, Ireland, the American Southwest, New England and beyond. Her award-winning work is collected and commissioned worldwide by repeat collectors and national organizations. Her work is on view at the Ross Gallery in Norwell, Massachusetts, as well as her Satuit Studio in Scituate. Outside of the studio, Natalia enjoys making homemade bruschetta from the garden, playing Irish fiddle and Bach, and enjoys time in the White Mountains, Maine and Cape Cod and Europe with her family.

Ethos

Natalia has been painting for over a decade, while toned paper sketches and watercolor pen and ink defined her earlier years. She first began plein air painting after a trip to the beach, and wanting to spend more time in nature. She was hooked. Inspired by her personal experiences with mental health, disability and environmental conservation, Natalia gives back to these causes each year, including an annual raffle, gala and fundraising event live painting partnerships, and proceed donations, helping to raise over $10,000 to date for causes and nonprofits that matter most to her. She can’t imaging doing anything other than painting, and finds much inspiration for her work, emotions and compositions in travel, music and cuisine.

 What collectors are saying

“Natalia is not only an extremely talented artist, but a great supporter of the community. As part of her Seen/Unseen Exhibition, she donated a portion of sales proceeds to Triangle, Inc. Her support of our organization will support services for people with variety of disabilities that develop employment and independent living skills while empowering them to live fully engaged lives in their local communities. We are so lucky to have a talented, engaged, and compassionate friend in Natalia!” John K.

“Natalia’s work captures both the strength of the natural world, and the loving touch of mother nature. Her use of color and media capture serenity of light and transport you to the scarcity of the moment.” Virginia H.

“I participated in a virtual event whereby Natalia collaborated with a local non-profit to give back part of her proceeds from the evening’s purchases. I fell in love with her work and style. Delighted to say that due to that event, I purchased two gorgeous pieces that remind me of the happiness and joy that not only the Cape brings me, but also the way Natalia captured it for me. Now in my new work from home office, I can just glance over and up and “be there”...thank you for this daily joy!” Patty B.

‘Art with heart’ ” is what I cherish in Natalia’s recreations of natural wonders, many of which I’ve visited. As I picture the so familiar cliffs at Aquinnah, Natalia’s sensitivity to color and light is extraordinary and adds both realism and emotion. Wonderfully responsive service and support! John T.
